Designing Medikal - All in one Application for your Medical needs

This case study is focused on UX design of a Medical concept app with features that will enable users to book an ambulance, get a bed at the nearest hospital, get assistance in case of an emergency.

The Problem

Despite having facilities like ambulances and emergency services in the hospitals, people have to go through many processes which then delays in their treatment.

Project Overview

One day, I had a major accident on road and had to experience things which I never imagined I'd face in life. Starting from booking an ambulance to getting admitted in the hospital, the process is very poor. That’s when the lightning struck. So, this case study is focused on UX design of a Medical concept app with features that will enable users to book an ambulance, get a bed at the nearest hospital, get assistance in case of an emergency. My concept idea is to bridge the gap between Patients and Medical assistance when required immediately.

Challenge

My goal and challenge in this case study was to discover the various usages of this application. I spoke with several people to understand their problems and try to come up with a solution that can address all their problems.

I conducted interviews and created affinity mapping to understand the users I am designing for and their needs. A primary user groups identified through research were patients, their families and individuals who wanted ambulance services and Volunteers who wanted to help people in emergency cases.

This user group confirmed all the difficulties they had to face from booking an ambulance to getting medical assistance.

​After the homepage was ideated, I created user flows and iterated them to reduce user actions and to make the application easy to shift from different features quickly without starting from scratch.

Solution

Research Synthesis revealed that the users can benefit from a single platform for all the medical assistance giving them various options while booking an ambulance, scheduling an hospital appointment and help patients with immediate help by connecting them to volunteers
